Author Q&A

What inspired you to write your first book?

I was inspired to write my book for a couple of reasons. The first was demand. My clients and students wanted this information so they could practice Mindkeeping for themselves and change their lives. The other reason is to debunk the myth that Spirituality is mystical and only for the chosen few. Nonsense.! Spirituality is for everyone because everyone is a spirit. This book is my way of taking Spirituality out of the mystical and into the practical, where it belongs for all to use.

Are experiences based on someone you know or events in your own life?

This book is my own life experience. My journey began when my youngest child was born. He was diagnosed with borderline asthma. I had two other children, a job, and an unavailable husband, and I didn't have the time or money to go to the doctor every week. I thought that if I put my hands on him with the intent to heal him, it would work, and it did. Every time I placed my hands on him, he was better by the next day. He was only six months old, so I knew I was on to something. The rest is history.

Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.

The entity called God is my most significant support. Without it, I don't exist. With it, I am everything I choose to be. It is my source, my force, and it sets my course for the truth that is right for me.

What is the hardest part of writing your book?

The hardest part of writing this book is being true to myself. There were times when I wrote what I thought the reader would want to hear, only to change it to what I truly wanted to say. It was scary at times, to put my thoughts and feelings out for all to see but I am glad I did. I wouldn't have it any other way.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I like reading biographies. I find people fascinating, as well as the human spirit. We usually see the end result of one's story, but the means to the end are inspiring and uplifting.

For your own reading, do you prefer ebooks or traditional paperback books?

I prefer paperbacks. I like the way they feel in my hand. I like that they are portable and easier to read outside than an ebook. I love the way a new book smells, too.

Which famous person, living or dead, would you like to meet and why?

I want to meet Jesus. I want to get a personal account of his life and what he thinks about his legacy. I would ask him questions such as: would he enjoy living in today's world? Does he believe that the world misinterprets his role, and what wisdom would he impart to us today?

What does being a successful author look like to you?

Success means making a positive and impactful mark on the world. How big or to what extent is yet to be determined. It may not look how I imagined it, but I will know the feeling when it comes.

What was the hardest part of writing your author bio?

The hardest part was explaining who I am and what I do. The words I used are not common. They are new, such as Mindkeeper and Lumen. As with anything new, it has to be introduced over and over again until it reaches a certain recognition.
