Author Alina Kina and her book Inner Hero

Alina Kina is an author who transformed her life by reconnecting with her inner self after struggling with clinical depression and traditional therapies. This journey led her to a profound state of balance, mental clarity, and creative awakening. Embracing new talents in poetry, music, and painting, Alina writes in a state of pure flow, expressing deep and authentic energy. Her work and personal story aim to inspire others to rediscover and reconnect with their own inner depths, guiding them towards a more fulfilled and balanced life.

Q&A

What inspired you to write your first book?

It was quite random, actually. Half a year into what I call living in flow-this state of being connected to my deeper self and learning to feel energies-I was riding my bicycle when suddenly phrases began to emerge in my mind. I quickly opened a note on my phone and started jotting them down. Interestingly, they all rhymed. It was a fascinating process, unlike anything I had experienced before. It felt as if I was merely a vessel for a message rather than the one writing. Until that moment, I had never written poetry, and I wasn't sure it would happen again.

Unexpectedly, it began to occur repeatedly in the most random places; I would stop and write down stanzas. Sometimes they related to my personal experiences, while other times they were deeply philosophical, reflecting the profound spiritual journeys humanity undergoes. I cherished these moments-they felt honest, real, and fulfilling, and I never forced them. They simply happened. Within a year, without any planning, I had a complete collection of poems. With the support of this energy, I decided to embark on this new, somewhat scary yet beautiful journey as a writer.

How did you come up with the title?

Another intriguing coincidence, which happens frequently in my life. I shared some of my first poems on my Instagram account, sparking fascinating conversations with friends and even people I barely knew. They shared personal stories and experiences related to spirituality. One poem I posted explored a newly discovered feeling of nurture and protection from this energy. I received feedback from someone who said, "While it sounded like it was about someone else-perhaps a lover, a parent, or a friend-when I read it, it felt like a letter to the self. There's a hero inside us that empowers and loves us, building us up when we choose to see it." He captured it perfectly: an inherent hero within all of us, who we often lose touch with.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

I encourage readers to start trusting their own feelings-no one else's but their own. It's about being honest with ourselves in every moment, even when we confront parts of ourselves that we are not proud of. Observing ourselves, noticing our own reactions and learning to see ourselves without the weight of judgment. I feel that only by seeing ourselves truthfully can we allow change to enter our lives. Naturally, it is scary to make the step into the unknown and uncover the parts of ourselves that we keep hidden, but only through this process can we start truly living.

Who designed the covers?

I designed the cover image myself-yet another story! I went through a dozen cover ideas and even created a few. While some were beautiful and eye-catching, they didn't feel right. I wanted to infuse my cover with life. Since my book is deeply personal, and I share many of my experiences, I chose to use my silhouette as a reference. My intention was to show that our inner power is natural and innate, so I decided to incorporate elements of nature into the cover. I took a photo of myself, covering my chest with my hands to draw attention to the heart center. After making some basic edits on my phone, I directed AI to create stunning cosmic sunsets and layered my silhouette onto that background. Initially, it looked rough, but I continued to develop the idea.

Before starting this process, I thought creating images with AI would be easy, but I soon realized it's an art form in itself, and your creative vision matters immensely. I experimented with various stylized versions of that rough image, blending the background with the photo. Eventually, I found a few images I loved, but the one on the cover resonated with me the most. It evoked a genuine feeling, rather than just being a pretty picture.

Did you learn anything from writing your book, and what was it?

I had to confront many of my own fears, such as being vulnerable about my personal journey and discussing spirituality and energy openly. Although these topics are less taboo in our society, I still worried about being judged. Another fear was putting my work out there without knowing much about the publishing world or whether it was all worth it. However, through this process, I realized that it is worth it; without taking that first step, you'll never know if this path is right for you.

When I recognized that I was doing this for my own growth, I was able to let go of many doubts and fears. It transformed me. I discovered that making those initial, imperfect steps helps uncover vast areas of our potential. Eventually, I began experimenting with music and writing lyrics for other artists, something I would never have considered without the experience of creating my own book. If you feel a desire to create and have something to share with the world, it's your responsibility to do so. This insight has been the most significant takeaway from my experience of writing this book.

What does being a successful author look like to you?

To me, success is measured by the degree to which you allow yourself to be free. In the context of writing, it's about being honest and expressing ideas without boundaries or limitations. I'm still at the beginning of my journey as a writer, and I cherish the freshness of this creative pursuit. I aim to maintain this approach throughout my journey as an author. When writing lyrics for songs, I try to set an intention-a pure impulse-at the start of any new project. The same applies to writing books.

When I set the right intention and act in accordance with it, something magical occurs, and my work naturally evolves into something unexpected. While the quality and execution may improve over time, the deeper meaning behind your work is always palpable. You can feel it within yourself. As you evolve, you become more able to express it more freely, so to me, success is a continuous journey.

What was the hardest part of writing your author bio?

How do you condense the human experience into a couple of paragraphs? Staring at a blank page, I found it challenging to express something felt beyond words without sounding too detached from everyday life. I wanted to convey a deeper dynamic that led me to become an author. One key point I discuss in my book is that the truth is always simple; it's often our minds that complicate it. While writing my bio, I came back to this idea and simply stated what helped and is helping me transform my life from suffering to feeling fulfilled. The essence of my work is to demonstrate that there's something greater that unites us all, and we share much more in common than we realize.

What is your favorite time to write, and why?

I enjoy writing late in the evening. It's a habit I'm still undecided about regarding its benefits. I love being active in the morning, but when the writing phase begins, my morning routine often suffers. You could think of it as the changing of seasons. For some reason, the calmness and quiet of late evening, filled with distant sounds of the night, create a magical atmosphere for me. It feels like it's just me and my ideas, free from distractions-a zone where time ceases to exist. In those moments, it's incredibly easy for me to focus and enter a creative flow.
