Virgin London Marathon places available with street children's charity
Run the London Marathon for street children
Milton Keynes based children’s charity Toybox has 5 places available to runners who would like to sign up to fundraise for their place.
Toybox is a charity dedicated to supporting the lives of street children across the globe, with a UK based team in Bletchley fundraising and supporting projects overseas.
Lynne Morris, CEO at Toybox explains more about the charity: “Toybox supports street children who have no choice but to live or work on the streets of most of the dangerous cities in the world; like San Salvador in El Salvador where gangs control vast areas of the city and use street children as young as 4 years old to carry messages and drugs, if they refuse they can be killed. For over 25 years now Toybox has been raising money to help get children off the streets and back into school, if this is impossible Toybox provides emergency support, like medical care, providing sleeping packs, a hot meal and more.”

About Toybox
Toybox started working in Guatemala City in 1992, and is still there today, working with children who have been plunged into the chaos of living or working on the streets. From working in one country, with one partner, the organisation is working in seven countries with eight partners.
The charity is committed to ending the global injustice of children living and working on the city streets. It helps children marginalised and abused by those who should protect them and works with local organisations who are best placed to help find the most appropriate ways to prevent and help children escape from a life on the streets. Toybox works in El Salvador, Bolivia, Guatemala, India, Nepal, Sierra Leone and Kenya.

The VLM will take place on Sunday 3rd October 2021.
The London Marathon was first held on 29 March 1981 and the millionth finisher in the history of the event crossed the line in 2016.
The world’s largest annual one-day fundraising event, in 2019 the Virgin Money London Marathon raised £66.4 million for charity, setting a new Guinness World Record for an annual one-day charity fundraising event for a 13th successive year. This brought the total raised for charity since 1981 to more than £1 billion.
More than three quarters of competitors run for a good cause and a third of all entry places are offered by charitable organisations.
