Prairie St. John’s Acquires Island Park Property

FARGO, N.D. - (March 22, 2010) – Prairie St. John’s, a Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) facility, announced today it has acquired the former Island Park clinic building near the facility, giving it the opportunity to expand its continuum of care for those needing psychiatric or addiction services.

The newly acquired building will be used to provide treatment options for patients with mental health and chemical dependency needs, improving access to high quality services for those in Fargo-Moorhead and the surrounding area. According to CEO Emmet Kenney, Jr., M.D., this is a significant investment in the community and a way to preserve the local neighborhood.

“This acquisition will allow us to provide more behavioral health services to the residents of our region,” said Kenney. “We are committed to continuing to provide the highest quality of care to those in need, and this new facility is one more valuable resource that will assist us in doing so.”

This building will centralize the child, adolescent and adult partial hospitalization programs. These programs provide active, intensive therapeutic services in a coordinated and structured environment designed as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization.

The building will also include a community meeting area, allowing other groups to meet at the facility and Prairie St. John’s to continue its support of the Prairie Education Series (PES). This program offers free professional training seminars to a network of behavioral health professionals in the area. Participants in the programs gain further knowledge about the mental health and chemical dependency topics and earn continuing education credits.

Prairie St. John’s officials have stated that preserving the established neighborhood is a priority, so no major renovations of the exterior of the building are planned.
