New Director of Program Services Joins Psychiatric Solutions and The Hughes Center
DANVILLE, Va. – (July 13, 2010) – The Hughes Center for Exceptional Children, a Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) facility, is proud to welcome Heather Lanier Showalter as its new Director of Program Services.Showalter has dedicated her career to helping children with special education needs and autism. She is called on regularly throughout the Southeast to be a speaker, consultant and panelist addressing such topics as behavior interventions, transition and autism. Most recently, she served as a behavioral analyst and autism consultant for the Guilford County School System in Greensboro, N.C.
“We are excited to welcome Heather to our team,” said Michael Triggs, chief executive officer for The Hughes Center. “Heather has extensive experience in effectively treating children with special needs. She has a passion for helping them achieve their full potential.”
Showalter earned her B.S. degree in special education from High Point and her M.Ed. in special education from Elon University. She was named the ARC North Carolina Special Educator of the Year in 1998 and has earned national board certification as an Exceptional Needs Specialist.
