Celebrations Galore – Lord Krishna Birthday Janmashtami 2020 at JMA Pilani Rajasthan

While every school in India today has many celebrations during the year, one which invariably stands top ranking in the heart and soul of all is Janmashtami. When a school celebrates different festivals spread over the year, the rich ethnic diversity of India truly comes alive. During such celebrations, the students and teachers of the school add a spectrum of colours and gaiety and indeed rise not only above caste and creed but also develop mutual respect for all religions.

Smt. Jamuna Mishra Academy JMA established in the year 2004 is presently one of the most sought after schools at Pilani considered as Oasis in the desert state of Rajasthan. JMA Pilani has established a rich tradition of observing various days and festivals of international as well as national importance on a regular basis. Due to COVID-19, with schools closed keeping the children engaged academically and culturally has become a serious challenge for many educational institutions in India today with a few exceptions such as JMA Pilani. Janmashtami also known as Gokulashtami marks the celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna considered as one of the greatest teachers of humanity whose very name ignites the spark of the divine power in every one. Despite the Corona virus scare and unexpected rains at Pilani threatening to be a dampener and an obstacle to the Goverdhan Giridhari birthday celebrations, the enthusiasm of the children ensured that the event was observed with religious fervor, gaiety and enthusiasm.

Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan had given a clarion call to all students to celebrate jJanmashtami at their respective homes dressed like Radha and Krishna and send photographs to the school. Principal and teachers wished the students Krishna Jayanti greetings and urged them to take inspiration from the last shloka of Bhagavad Gita to have the right combo of knowledge and skills like Krishna and Arjun to win all the Kurukshetras ahead of them in coming times.
