Awning manufacturer markilux looks back with satisfaction on the introductory year of its fabric collection 2018+

A year after markilux's new awning fabric collection was introduced into the market, the company has said it is completely satisfied with the feedback it has received from its customers. The more comprehensive layout of the collection, the large range of plain-coloured fabrics and false plains, as well as the variety of fabric patterns, have been shown to cater to the taste of both professional and retail customers.

According to Annette Busch, Textile Designer at markilux, a lot of hard work and passion went into creating the 2018+ fabric collection. "There is a lot of anticipation with regard to how the market will react to the new patterns and colours", she says. Therefore, it is all the more pleasing, when the customer response is positive. In her experience, the new collection is a good working tool for professional partners, but also for retail customers. In addition to the differentiation between the basic and exclusive collections, the collection as a whole has been built on carefully assorted colour groups. "This is very helpful in day-to-day use. There are so many patterns to choose from, but you can also narrow down the choice based on a particular colour group when making a fabric selection", Annette Busch explains.

Fashionalbe: plain colours and grey tones are popular on the patio
Plain awning covers are being chosen more frequently, and make up a large part of the collection. According to Ms Busch, plains and finely textured patterns form a clear and maybe even market-leading trend, and therefore one of the most important elements in the awning fabric collection. Grey as a colour theme has established itself as one of the big contenders. "At the moment, grey is our colour purchased most often, whether as a plain or fienley textured plain colour. I am glad that we went to so much effort with these shades of colour in such an extensive range", the fabric designer emphasizes. The response to the stylish blue tones is still somewhat reserved, even though blue has also turned out to be a fashionable colour. Even though the designs have been received with excitement, customers may need more time before they take a chance on an elegant dark blue with a pinstripe look.

Exclusively woven, for a particular taste
Ms Busch is certain that the purchase of a particular awning cover depends on how fashionable, trend-conscious, bold or conservative a customer is. "We can easily see this in our exclusive collection. The patterns in the new 'Mouliné colour gradient yarn', the 'special effects', as well as the fashionable covers are primarily in demand by customers who are looking for something special and expressive that sets them apart from the mainstream", she emphasizes. This is a welcome sign as this collection has been made to be an eye-catcher, stand out and be a conversation piece. With the collection, the company wants to show what is possible and serve exclusive tastes. With its variety, the collection also provides an unrivalled, multi-facetted choice of patterns inspired by classic, extravagant or modern styles.

Timeless, though designed in a modern style
Annette Busch believes that modern trends in particular are a driving force. Non-colour shades from the grey-beige-brown spectrum are colours of choice for many products and are therefore well represented in the fabric collection as well. This is a megatrend that will continue for years, which makes the markilux collection well-positioned for the future. The colourful patterns in particular have a lot of potential when one wishes to make a powerful statement. Ms Busch has already thought ahead, saying: "There are still a lot of ideas that are waiting in the wings. Things are under development that will further refine the collection and which will also differentiate it from the competition in the future too. Over the coming years and beyond we will be working on the many ideas coming out of the current collection. Because tomorrow already starts today."
