MEI Provides Development, Design and Deployment for Adobe's Digital Publishing Suite

10-29-2010 09:08 AM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: Managing Editor Inc.

Jenkintown, PA (October 28, 2010) — Managing Editor Inc. (MEI), an Adobe premier development partner and a leading provider of software solutions for the publishing industry, today announced it is offering expert training and consulting services for publishers, advertisers and creative teams using Adobe’s new Digital Publishing Suite (DPS) to build specialized content for tablets such as the iPad.

MEI has been working with Adobe during the development of the DPS tools, which were made available on Adobe Labs this week. In conjunction with this beta release, MEI’s workflow, technology and design experts are ready to assist users of the suite, from template creation to app deployment.

Adobe’s DPS enables media, corporate and retail catalog publishers and others to create and monetize immersive tablet experiences. This digital content can be consumed on the iPad, with other tablet platforms and devices expected in the future. Design and production teams create digital products using Adobe InDesign® CS5 and additional publishing technologies, including features for adding advanced interactivity — 360-degree image rotations, image panning/zooming, audio, video, social elements and more — and bundling digital layouts for publication. The suite also provides access to powerful analytics and tracking tools.

“Adobe has been at the forefront of the industry for decades, and one of the benefits we offer is a close, cooperative relationship with them,” said Dennis McGuire, CEO and president of MEI. “By working with us, creative teams get the best possible training on the latest tools as soon as they are available, backed by that strong relationship and our own expertise.”

MEI recently announced its services for helping customers produce tablet-friendly issues from start to finish. The company’s experienced integrators can analyze a site’s existing production workflow, evaluate its needs to get content to tablet formats and take the necessary steps to optimize that process. MEI also provides design services ranging from consulting to complete issue layout.

Additionally, MEI works with advertisers, agencies and freelance designers to implement tablet publishing strategies using Adobe’s DPS. With this new software, vendors easily build engaging, interactive ads that publishers can seamlessly use in their tablet products.

Depending on a publisher’s specific tablet needs, MEI also offers the vjoon K4 Cross-Media Publishing Platform, which is fully compatible with Adobe’s DPS. K4 allows publishers to integrate Adobe InDesign and InCopy® to create and manage content for print, online, mobile and, now, iPad and other emerging media. K4 customer Condé Nast recently announced it will implement the DPS across all of its titles and has already released several successful iPad editions, including Wired and The New Yorker. K4 is not necessary to use the DPS, but it enhances automation, functionality and efficiency in tablet production.
