UK MEDIATION AWARENESS WEEK 2017
Mediation involves the intervention into a conflict or dispute by a trained third party. This third party is independent of the conflict and assists the parties to negotiate a settlement agreeable to both sides. Mediation is suitable for all types of disputes including commercial, civil, workplace, community, family, property, and medical.
Many people don’t know how mediation works or the benefits and cost-savings that are achievable. Mediation is a highly effective way of resolving conflict, and it can have staggering results. Studies have shown success rates exceeding 80%. There are also significant cost and time saving when compared to litigation and the courts.
Mediation Awareness Week 2017 will take place from the 14th to the 20th October.
Some of the exciting events happening during Mediation Awareness Week are:
• London Mediators Day with the launch of the week on Saturday 14th October
• Mediating Medical Cases After Charlie Gard on Monday 16th October
• The Art of Mediation – Using mediation to resolve disputes in the art market on Tuesday 17th October
• Property and Consumer Disputes – A mock mediation and case review on Friday 20th October

Mediation Awareness Group (MAG) is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) established by a group of professional mediators to:
Promote awareness of the benefits of mediation, including delivery of Mediation Awareness Week
Inform users of mediation (people and organisations) about the process and its outcomes
Support and promote dialogue between the UK’s independent professional mediation umbrella organisations
MAG is the successor to Mediation Awareness UK (MAUK) which organised and delivered the inaugural Mediation Awareness Week in 2016.
