OrgaBIT released "OrgaBIT Forms", a Client/Server based Forms Management System, primarily designed for the modernization of older, proprietary terminal and/or character oriented user interfaces and forms management systems and the replacement of those with a Graphical User Interface. OrgaBIT Forms is based on the Open Source toolkit wxWidgets and the Open Source forms builder wxFormBuilder - both components were enhanced to provide the typical functionality and look & feel of an intelligent Forms Management System with Graphical User Interface and to give the ability to replace older and proprietary forms management systems in a fast and easy manner. Beside already available forms converters (from the current forms system to OrgaBIT Forms), it’s flexible architecture allows the rapid development and implementation of new forms converters and emulation libraries. The forms are stored in standard XML/XRC files and loaded via the API library from a local directory, a mapped network directory, an http-server (web server) or an ftp-server.

From the wxWidgets homepage: wxWidgets lets developers create applications for Win32, Mac OS X, GTK+, X11, Motif, WinCE, and more using one codebase. It can be used from languages such as C++, Python, Perl, and C#/.NET. Unlike other cross-platform toolkits, wxWidgets applications look and feel native. This is because wxWidgets uses the platform's own native controls rather than emulating them. It's also extensive, free, open-source, and mature.

OrgaBIT Forms is equipped with an API (Application Programming Interface) library for the programming languages C/C++ and Fortran, the COBOL API is currently under investigation.

The server components are currently available for the Linux (I386) and HP‑UX (HP-PA) platforms, the client components are designed to run on Microsoft Windows (Windows/2000 and up) or Linux (I386). The communication between the server and client programs is based on TCP/IP.

OrgaBIT is an independent and privatly held company, established in Year 2005. Among other endeavours, we are specialized in application modernization and application software and data migrations from proprietary computer and operating system platforms and all vendor specific Unixes to the open source world, i.e. Unix, Linux and Windows server systems. OrgaBIT is owned by Dipl. Ing. (FH) Andreas Maier, who - along with partners and freelancers - is involved in designing and developing tools to make software and data migrations as easy as possible.
