Press release from: Bavarian Inn Restaurant

– It’s the age-old question – wine or beer? The Bavarian Inn Restaurant is seeking the answer, as well as presenting some great food, at its upcoming Wine vs. Beer Dinner on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.

Guests will enjoy a course by course competition of wines from Charles Smith Wines out of Washington state against beers from Odd Side Ales brewery, a Michigan craft brewer.

"We can’t wait to find out which will win the vote of our guests at this unique culinary and spirits event," says Bill Zehnder, Bavarian Inn President.

Guests will enjoy a starter course of salmon mousseline topped with a pineapple lime salsa, accompanied by Substance Sauvignon Blanc, in the "Loire style," and Scallywagger, an imperial pineapple IPA.

Next is nam sod Thai pork salad, served with Kung Fu Girl Riesling, featuring notes of citrus blossom, lime leaf and white peach that pairs well with Thai food. The beer competitor in this round is Hop Gobbler, an extra pale ale loaded with hops flavor.

Following a refreshing sorbet du jour, the entrée is tagliatelle surf and turf pasta with herb butter sauce. It will be paired with Vino Rose featuring aromas of Italian melon, faint cherry, camellias and dried herbs. Its rival in this course is Citra Pale Ale, the flagship beer from Odd Side Ales and brewed exclusively with Citra hops.

Lemon strawberry shortcake finishes this highly satisfying dinner, complemented by Charles Smith’s Secco Moscato, with notes of white peach, apricot, lychee and orange blossoms, and Bean Flicker Blonde, a stout with a light coffee note.

The only question that remains at the end of the evening is which spirit is the choice of the people – wine or beer?

The price for this special food, wine and beer event is $60 per person, with reservations and prepayment required. Reservations may be made by calling 1-800-BAVARIA or (989) 652-9941. For more information, go to www.bavarianinn.com and view the calendar of events.
