Disney VoluntEARS Present Murals to Foster Care Charity

(PASADENA, CA) – Inspired by the legendary Disney characters and a desire to give back to the community, Walt Disney Company representatives dedicated two murals to Hillsides, a foster care children’s charity in Pasadena. Afterwards, they toured the campus and participated in craft activities with the foster care children living on the charity’s 17-acre campus.

Walt Disney Company Senior Vice President of Human Resources Jeffrey Rosen presented the murals to Nancy Garni, director of development for the children’s charity. He described the long history the Walt Disney Company and Hillsides have formed, not only through financial avenues, but also through the company’s volunteer network, called Disney VoluntEARS.

Rosen explained the importance of connecting with the children at the foster care charity and its manifestation through the work of the Disney VoluntEARS. He said, “[Disney VoluntEARS] have dedicated five million hours of service over twenty years, through gifts, being a major sponsor of benefits, being a part of experiential and reading activities with the kids in residence at Hillsides.”

Garni added, “Disney has brought their artistic talents to the children of Hillsides and has provided a sense of joy, happiness and hope through the images and culture of Disney.”

Describing Disney’s successful and strong relationship with Hillsides, Rosen said, “We have so much in common. Disney, like Hillsides, is a brand that is trusted and connects with kids and families through this trust.” Rosen added that Disney wants to be part of making the kids feel better and happy and an important part of Disney’s motivation is to give back to the community, especially to deserving organizations like Hillsides.

Proud of Disney’s relationship with Hillsides, Rosen commended Hillsides’ mission and told the foster care charity representatives “to keep up the good work!”
