Thermal inkjet printing a barcode, graphics and text onto film

Thermal inkjet printing a barcode, graphics and text onto film

Thermal inkjet printer technology moves ahead to print onto a wide range of non-porous materials. Most notable, is the ability to print onto blister foils and varnished cartons as found on many pharmaceutical production lines.
Rotech Machines Ltd., the specialist coding and marking company, have been granted distribution rights by APS of Herrenberg, Germany for their innovative range of Apsolute thermal inkjet printers.
Using technology developed by Hewlett Packard, the printers offer a sealed, mono-fluid, printhead that removes the need for the handling of bulk, volatile, liquids. Furthermore, unlike printers with a re-circulation system, only such fluid as is required to make the print needs to be purchased.
To date, the technology has been largely limited to printing on porous surfaces as only water-based inks could be used. The development by APS of a range of alcohol-based inks together with modifications to the cartridge driver to permit their handling, now allow the technology to print onto a wide range of non-porous materials. Most notable, is the ability to print onto blister foils and varnished cartons as found on many pharmaceutical production lines. A further feature of the Apsolute system permits up to four printheads to be commanded from one controller, meaning that only one need be purchased per production line.
Two further features help to control and reduce the running costs of the printer. Firstly, once programmed, the system calculates how many prints will be made from one 42ml cartridge. Making subtle changes to the font or resolution can have a dramatic effect on ink usage and this feature allows the user to decide the print format that best meets all their business needs. Secondly, with no moving parts, there is zero maintenance and no disruption to a production line due to coder failure.

This simple, innovative, printer is readily portable and Rotech can offer on-site demonstrations and production line trials as well as in-house print-testing of customers’ packaging materials.

What is the Difference Between Direct Thermal and Thermal Transfer Labels?
Northern Label Systems, specialists in supplying high quality labels explain the differences between Direct Thermal https://www.northern-label-systems.co.uk/labels-by-type/direct-thermal-labels and Thermal Transfer Labels https://www.northern-label-systems.co.uk/labels-by-type/thermal-transfer-labels Thermal Transfer printing uses an ink ribbon to transfer the printed image from the heated printhead of the label printer onto the surface of the label while Direct Thermal printing transfers the image directly onto a heat sensitive material. There are advantages and disadvantages to both methods. Direct Thermal label

Thermal conductivity refers as an important characteristic for several manufacturing operations. Thermal transfer properties of a variety of materials are effective in certain applications owing to natural molecular structure that allows for direct heat-transfer. Thermal transfer materials are extensively used to manufacture the heat conductive adhesive tapes, printable products and polymer sheets. These polymer sheets are utilized for barcodes, labeling, and QR code labels for retailing, logistics, and consumer goods.
