“We anticipate growth of 34% in residential property development this year.” Bold words from President Putin in October 2007. The targets set have come from the very top, and statistics and even conservative projections are backing up this trend to telling effect. As a result, experts believe that Russia, the country with the largest land mass of any in the world, remains one of the most attractive markets.

Against a background of unwaveringly strong growth figures in the Russian construction and investment sectors, INTERLIGHT MOSCOW 2007 managed to consolidate its dominant position as the leading international trade fair in Russia and Eastern Europe and was again used as a tailor-made platform for international experts and exhibitors from the lighting industry to come together and exchange thoughts and ideas.

Once again, the trade fair for lighting, light technology & intelligent building services engineering in Moscow achieved further growth, posting more than an 8% increase in space and 408 exhibitors from 26 different countries. This demonstrates the appeal and signifi cance of INTERLIGHT MOSCOW.

Practically every leading company from the individual sectors of their respective countries was represented again. Russia contributed the largest share of exhibitors, at 40%.

Germany, Spain, Italy and Asia also organised their own community stands to enable their exhibitors to benefit even more from the possibilities available at INTERLIGHT MOSCOW 2007 and to fi nd it even easier to meet foreign partners, forge new ties, generate business and analyse the Russian market.

These are opportunities that almost 60% of the companies have exploited on more than one occasion. 24% of the exhibitors have been taking part for the last four years or more.

After the event closed, the dominant emotion among the exhibitors was one of immense satisfaction about the way it had all gone. This is because more than 18,500 visitors had been in attendance, fi nding out about new designs, trends, technologies and applications. People from 54 different countries had advanced on INTERLIGHT MOSCOW, the majority from the Moscow region (59%), followed by visitors from the other regions of Russia (34%) and from the CIS states (4.5%). Interest among the regions was therefore higher than before.

Decorative lighting, technical lamps, electrical engineering and LED were the main topics presented at this year’s trade fair, and they were extremely popular with the visitors.

For the first time, companies were able to exhibit their LED products, services and the wide range of possible applications for LED technology in their own separate hall.

The extensive fringe programme in the LED Forum, with its high-calibre talks by renowned international speakers on issues and projects relating to every possible aspect of LED technology and lighting design, enjoyed a particularly impressive turnout. More than 1,000 visitors attended the forum and joined in the discussions with distinguished scientists and experts in the industry.

INTERLIGHT MOSCOW 2007 again caught the attention of architects, a group whose visitor fi gures are also growing proportionately. So, this year, for the fi rst time, we provided an “ArchLounge”, which proved to be an attractive information point and meeting-place. Almost 960 architects came here during the trade fair to find out about decorative and technical lighting solutions. The Club of German Architects in Moscow (KdAI) held its reception in the ArchLounge and presented the fi rst results of the international student competition “Light.net 2007” there as well. This event was such a success that it will now be held annually at INTERLIGHT MOSCOW.

The 14th International Trade Fair for Lighting, Light Technology and Intelligent Building Services Engineering will take place from 09th to 12th December 2008 in the Expocentr in Moscow.
