RWE AG integrates MultiCash Transfer into the group-wide international Payment Factory

09-26-2014 08:13 PM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: Omikron Systemhaus GmbH & Co. KG

RWE AG, who can be counted amount Europe’s leading gas and electricity providers continuously optimise its business processes. Part of this activity was to centralize handling of payments within the group to one standard Payment Factory.

Beyond standardizing payments, it was of central significance for RWE to ensure that the solution was as automated as possible and complied with all internal security requirements. Of course, the new system also has to allow RWE Group companies in Europe to connect to the central platform.

The corporate IT division (RWE IT GmbH) was tasked with a pilot study to evaluate potential solutions which could meet these requirements. The study resulted in a decision by RWE for MultiCash Transfer as the centrepiece of the Payment Factory. Key drivers behind this decision were recommendations of a number of high-profile reference customers as well as RWE’s own positive experiences with Omikron solutions. A number of RWE’s European entities have been using MultiCash solutions to manage their local banking business for many years. Step-by-step these are now being integrated into the central MultiCash Transfer solution operated by RWE’s international Shared Service Centre.

In addition, a close cooperation between RWE and Omikron during the implementation stage allowed the solution to be embedded seamlessly in the organization and adapted to internal requirements. To complement the software package, a service package was delivered by Omikron, specially tailored to meet RWE’s needs. That means that RWE can be confident of direct support from the solution provider, and make use of Omikron’s in-depth expertise. "The international experience both in our team and on Omikron’s side has enabled us to improve the efficiency of our bank connections across Europe, in a way that would be unthinkable with other companies", says Karsten Grewe, RWE’s technical coordinator for Consolidation & Cash Management. "Because an open dialogue is essential in this business, we have to ensure that we build a close cooperation with our suppliers. The successful collaboration between RWE and Omikron provides a perfect example of how this can work".
