Competition Ingenious Creation 2014: An Award for Excellence – Between Art and Trophy

During its ten years of existence the Zeughausmesse – Decorative Arts Fair has been a success story for art, craft and design as part of Berlin cultural life. This anniversary provides a welcome excuse to make the art of honouring an achievement the subject of this year’s competition.
Something that has proved to be a challenge for artists and craftsmen through the ages is now to be designed in a novel and idyosyncratic, crazy or elegant fashion; the creation of cups, badges, medals, certificates, ribbons, wreaths and trophies using all kinds of materials and techniques as well as lashings of ingenuity. We put it to each craft to tackle this momentous task with joy and imagination.
All professional persons or groups and those training in the field of modern craft are eligible to take part.
Please submit a statement explaining your idea and the product’s manufacturing process, up to five digital photographs (300 dpi) and a brief CV either by post or by email.
Deadline for submissions: 15th July 2014
An independent jury of artists and designers will select the most accomplished creations. These will be exhibited during the Zeughausmesse – Decorative Arts Fair at the German Historical Museum in Berlin, 11th to 14th December 2014, and will also be considered for the prize for modern craft sponsored by Berliner Volksbank.

The competiton Ingenious Creation was set up in 2012 by the Zeughausmesse - Decorative Arts Fair in order to gauge the potential of the decorative arts for invention and progressing design, and to further the inventive spirit and joy of expe¬rimentation in creative artists.

Berlin's Zeughausmesse, Decorative Arts Fair has been taking place in the Schlüterhof of the Deutsche Historische Museum since December 2004. Within a very short time thanks to the high standard of quality the Zeughausmesse; Decorative Arts Fair has established itself as one of the leading fairs for contemporary art for everyday use.
