DP Transmitter for Flow Measurement

In process manufacturing, pressure transmitters, particularly differential pressure transmitters, for measuring the flow of gas or liquid through pipelines. Measuring the drop of pressure in the orifice plate fitted in a pipe is the most regularly used flow measurement technique. An orifice plate is merely a plate that has a hole of a known size in the center.

When gas or liquid passes through the orifice, there will be a pressure drop from upstream to downstream on the orifice plate. This drop is relative to the flow rate, letting the transmitter calculate the rate of flow in the processing pipeline simultaneously.

Sensing Pressure for Liquid Level Management

Pressure Transmitters can also calculate the height or fluid level of fluid present in the process tank. This method is used for measuring liquid levels in storage tanks, like water towers. For most real-world purposes, the liquid level is proportional to pressure. The pressure transmitter is an external pressure sensor, fit for measuring the fluid level in a storage or process reservoir.

The level is measured by taking measurements of the pressure at the bottom of the liquid in the tank. With the purpose of achieving the excellent performance of the pressure transmitter, it is significant to use chemically compatible constituents.

Pipeline Leakage Detection

For detection of any leaks in the pipeline, there are many approaches available, but the leaks in the pipeline can be detected by measuring the pressure. Pressure reduction could indicate leakages. Fixed Pressure Transmitters which are mounted on the Pipeline at numerous intervals can point out the leakage point in the pipe carrying any fluid.
