Press release from: CD BioGlyco

CD BioGlyco, a leader in the field of glycan remodeling, released custom glycosylation services of proteins for its global customers based on biochemistry and organic chemistry.

Glycosylation is the process of adding glycans to proteins or lipids under the control of enzymes and occurs in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. It transfers glycans to proteins under the action of glycosyltransferases and covalently binds to amino acid residues on proteins. Proteins are glycosylated to form glycoproteins. Glycosylation is an important modification of proteins and has a role in regulating protein function. The results of glycosylation make different proteins labeled differently, change the conformation of the polypeptide and increase the stability of the protein.

Glycosylation is classified as N-glycosylation, O-glycosylation, C-glycosylation, glycosylation, and phosphate glycosylation. N-glycosylation is the most common type of glycosylation and glycans are linked to NH2 of asparagine residues in the ER. O-glycosylation occurs on threonine (Thr) and serine (Ser) side chains in the Golgi apparatus and plays an important role in cell biology. C-mannosylation is a unique glycosylation method whose biological function is unknown. To date, C-mannosylation has been detected in rat liver microsomes and various cell lines. Glycation is the binding of proteins and phospholipids to the glycan core and is widely detected on surface glycoproteins in archaea and eukaryotes. Glycosylation of glycans linked to Thr or Ser via phosphodiester bonds is called phosphoglucosylation, and this glycosylation is restricted to colistin and parasites.

Scientists at CD BioGlyco have been committed to research in the field of glycosylation for years, and now it provides high-quality, cost-effective, and hassle-free customized glycosylation services including:

Proteins glycosylation based on biochemistry
Achieve protein glycosylation through biochemical reactions catalyzed by various glycosidases and glycosyltransferases.

Proteins glycosylation based on organic chemistry
To modify the structure of glycoproteins at the atomic level and to prepare glycosylated proteins containing any glycosylation site and any glycan.

"We have extensive experience doing custom glycosylation of proteins, antibodies, cell membranes, and bacterial membranes, and we can customize glycosylation services to meet your exact requirements." Commented one of the representative speakers from CD BioGlyco.
