EtherCAT Support for Beckhoff CX2000/CX5000 on embedded operating systems

In a first version the Windows CE 6.0 and QNX Neutrino RTOS as well as real-time Linux will be available out-of-the-box.
Acontis will provide all the necessary support for these operating systems on the Beckhoff CX2000/CX5000 platform, so customers can rely that they get a perfect EtherCAT enabled real-time platform with all required support from acontis.
The CX5000 series devices are DIN rail-mountable, fanless Embedded PCs with direct connection for Beckhoff Bus Terminals or EtherCAT Terminals.
On the Beckhoff CX5000 an exchangeable, industrially-compatible Compact Flash card is used as boot and storage medium. The Compact Flash card serves as a substitute for a hard disk; i.e. the operating system as well as the EC-Master software and user applications is stored on it. The built-in capacitive 1-second UPS ensures secure backup of persistent application data on the Compact Flash card.
The CX2000 Embedded PC series extend the CX product family with versions with very high CPU power (optionally with multi-core) and enable direct connection of Bus Terminals or EtherCAT Terminals.
EtherCAT support for those operating systems is based on acontis' EC-Master EtherCAT Master stack which is used by many companies worldwide in a great variety of applications. EC-Master is fully compliant with the ETG.1500 EtherCAT Master Class A and Class B specifications, and all ETG.1500 specified feature packs are available with industry-proven quality.
One key feature of this master solution is its extreme high speed Ethernet drivers which are optimized for EtherCAT operation. EC-Master for CX2000/CX5000 also supports its E-Bus EtherCAT interface where EtherCAT terminals can be directly connected. Thus, in combination with the EC-Master high speed Ethernet driver the performance of this solution is quite impressive: cycle times on the CX5000 up to 10 kHz and on the CX2000 up to 20 kHz can be achieved.
Based on the acontis EtherCAT software in conjunction with a real-time operation system the CX2000/CX5000 becomes a powerful device where customers can build a broad range of applications for different markets like industrial control (PLCs, motion/NC/robot controllers), stage control, semiconductor and medical applications, test and measurement (test benches, hardware in the loop simulation), energy and aerospace applications.
