CASwell Launches CAR-4060 Server System Based On Intel Comet Lake For Network Security Operation

High-End 1U Appliance With Up To 26 Fast Ethernet Ports - Ideal Solution For Unified Threat Management In Next Generation Central Office

CASwell, a leading manufacturer of innovative and high-performance SD-WAN (uCPE/vCPE) and network security systems, has launched the new CAR-4060 server system to satisfy the rising demand for SD-WAN appliances but also as the ideal base for network security software solutions in edge data centers like the next generation central office (NGCO).

The CAR-4060 is based on Intel Xeon and Core processors of Intel's 10th Core generation ("Comet Lake") and can be equipped with Xeon W-1200E or Core i3- to i9-10000 CPU models that provide up to 10 cores and 20 parallel threads while staying at or under 95 watts thermal design power. The system offers four DIMM slots for up to 128GB DDR4-2666/2933 main memory and ECC depending on CPU model. This makes sure the system can handle the most demanding and advanced network tasks while staying cool and energy-efficient.

The CASwell CAR-4060 by standard already offers eight Gbit-Ethernet ports supporting two pairs of Network Bypass 4.0 and two SFP+ 10-GbE ports but two CASwell NIP modules can add up to 16 more GbE network ports that are connected by PCI Express 3.0 to the processor for fast data transfer. Alternatively, the NIP slots can host one iSAM storage module for easily swappable SSDs. Internally, the CAR-4060 features two SATA 3.0 connectors onboard for system storage and one SATA 3.0 DOM connection with power pin plus one M.2 slot for fast PCIe NVMe or SATA SSDs depending on key configuration.

Two redundant power supply units with 300 Watt secure uninterrupted operation even if one goes down. The optionally available Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI 2.0) monitors system health and sends out alerts if parameters do not stay within pre-set limits, indicating a potential failure. IPMI for the CAR-4060 also supports LOM (Lights Out Management) for device maintenance by system administrators to monitor and manage the system by remote access regardless of whether the machine is powered on, or whether it is installed or functional.

Availability

The CASwell CAR-4060 is a flexible and high performing server and the ideal system for SD-WAN operations or network security like unified threat management for edge data centers or NGCO. The appliance can be configured according to customer demand or requirement and samples for customer evaluation are available now.
Please contact your local CASwell representative or sales for any questions!
