Open-Xchange Adds Support for Univention Corporate Server 3.0

NUREMBERG, BREMEN, Germany, June 28, 2012 – Open-Xchange, a supplier of business-class email and collaboration software, supports the lastest version 3.0 of Linux infrastructure solution Univention Corporate Server (UCS), the leading Open Source platform to provide and manage domain and infrastructure services for organizations. Customers benefit from fully integrated administration of users and devices with Open-Xchange and the freedom to move their deployment easily to the cloud.

Combining Open-Xchange with UCS 3.0 significantly reduces administrative costs and makes it easy to integrate into existing IT infrastructure. It is ideal for educational institutions, public administrations and small- and medium-size businesses to manage users, groups and servers in a central graphical administration interface.

In addition, using UCS 3.0 makes it a lot more easier for organizations to move their on-premises installations of Open-Xchange to private clouds or to move it from one cloud to another. In this way, UCS ensures that organisations keep full control over their IT when they use cloud-based services.

Open-Xchange integrates email, calendar, contact and task management with advanced collaboration and cutting-edge social network integration. By adding Open-Xchange mobility capabilities, users can push email and synchronize contacts, calendars and other information from their Open-Xchange accounts to their smartphones -- including iPhone, Android-based devices, Nokia and Windows Phone.

UCS 3.0 comes with a completely revised, central web interface for system and domain administration, management of servers, workstations and desktops as well as software monitoring and software distribution. UCS offers also an integral user and rights management for all applications, independently of whether these are run on the cloud or traditionally in the company. It is the first commercial product to integrate Samba 4, the next generation of Open Source software for Microsoft-compatible domain management enabling IT professionals to construct more complex Active Directory domains and ensure interoperability with upcoming Microsoft Windows operating systems. This ensures that LDAP directory and Microsoft Active Directory can be used in parallel.
