In a world where people will interact with chatbots and voice assistants, conversation designers are crucial to create trust and human-centric communication.

With the rise of conversational interface, like chatbots and voice assistants, conversation design becomes a promising career choice. As the Alexa, Google Assistant, Bixby, and others find their place in the lives of many, the need for better and more human-centric interactions grows.

But how do you design for an interface where people can do and say whatever they want at any given moment? That’s the puzzle that the Conversation Design Institute tries to solve.

By recognizing, developing, and promoting the role of the conversation designer, it sets out to promote the profession that will ultimately advance trust and communication between humans and artificial intelligence.

“Every organization is looking to automate 85% of their interactions with conversational AI technology,” says founder Hans van Dam “To do this successfully, they will have to add conversation designers to their teams. Right now, there simply aren’t enough conversation designers so it’s our core mission to promote this crucial profession and train as many as we can. Only then can we ensure human-centric interactions between people and AI.”

Conversation Design Institute’s mission is two-fold. On one hand it seeks to create alignment in the industry around terminology and workflow. On the other hand, it seeks to train and certify non-engineers to help organizations develop proper chatbots and voice assistants.

The Amsterdam based company is working closely with all industry stakeholders. Its manifesto that suggests the model for industry alignment is supported by technology companies, enterprises, universities, and designers. With this support, Conversation Design Institute is well on its way to becoming the number one platform for everything conversation design.
