Press release from: UMAN Universal Media Access Networks GmbH

Ethernet AVBDSP Reference Design

Ethernet AVBDSP Reference Design

One-stop-solution for active powered speakers, controller amps and installation devices. Demo at Upcomming ISE in Amsterdam.

UMAN will demonstrate at the show its new AVB-DSP Reference design with AVB audio streaming, loudspeaker processing on Analog Devices Sharc DSPs, and a fully platform independent UNOS based command and control solution.

The System supports 1722.1 based connection management and all other AVB standards. UNOS supports various AVB hardware platforms including Marvell, XMOS and LabX.

Jürgen Scheuring, CEO of UMAN states: “This reference design is the first of a family of DSP platforms with AVB support at various performance and price levels. We are confident that these turn-key solutions will make it much easier for A/V manufacturers to join the mega-trends of network unification based on Ethernet AVB.”

UMAN is dedicated to support the emerging Ethernet AVB standards in the Pro Audio and Video markets as well as in Automotive, Smart Buildings and Consumer applications.

The system will be demonstrated at ISE in Amsterdam at the UMAN booth at 7Q220.

IEEE 1588 IP Core extension for the telecommunication area and AVB networks
Many applications, in the telecommunication sector, in AVB networks as well as in the measurement and automation area, require a highly accurate time synchronization of the individual nodes in the system. The IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP), which is offered by IXXAT as protocol software package, enables the synchronization of nodes, which are connected e.g. via Ethernet. To achieve a highly accurate synchronization in the sub-microsecond range, however, in addition
