Press release from: Learning Light

The Leonardo da Vinci seminar ‘Enabling labour market entry and mobility to disadvantaged groups engaging across Europe in learning through innovation’ will be held on 6th September 2011 in Krakow, Poland.

The Enable project, an EU funded Leonardo Transfer of Innovation project, has announced that its conference is to be held in Krakov, Poland, on 6th September 2011. For further details visit the Enable site (http://enable-lifelonglearning.ning.com/).

Efficio Poland is organising the conference along with Learning Light. Additional speakers will come from Romania's IFES, as well as Asset-tec, based in Athens, Greece; Fondazione Luigi CLerici of Italy; The Workshop, based in Sheffield, UK, and the MRS Consultancy also based in the UK.

The project has developed a unique methodology that uses both a ‘digital engagement tool’ – Page Designer - and an innovative learner-led engagement methodology to engage hard-to-reach learners across the five countries involved in the project.

In the UK, the project focused on the Somali community which has proved to be very rewarding. Piloting of the methodology and engagement tool has produced some very encouraging results.

It is the project’s aspiration to make Page Designer available under a Creative Commons License to be used for all those interested in the tool and the methodology to engage with hard to reach learners.

Learning Light is already well known for its pioneering work with hard-to-reach learners in the UK, having developed innovative e-learning programmes for use by hard-to-reach groups, such as offenders and the long term unemployed. We believe that the Enable methodology and engagement tool are significant developments in this field.

The aim of the seminar is to exchange experiences about learning and the methods used in different countries in order to stimulate disadvantaged groups. The seminar will promote the opportunities that ‘Leonardo da Vinci’ gives opinion leaders and institutions of vocational education in the development of lifelong learning.

The seminar is therefore primarily for representatives of the vocational training institutions, Universities of the Third Age and people wishing to develop co-operation in the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci or Grundvig Program.

The seminar takes place on 6th September 2011, from 09.30 to 14.00 at the Hotel Holiday Inn,
ul. Wielopole 4, Krakow.

The seminar will be conducted in English. Places are limited – and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. To attend the seminar and for more detailed information, visit: www.efficio.pl (seminar) and efficiopoland@gmail.com (information)
