Strike Two brings together the whole food sector for solutions for climate-neutral agriculture

Amsterdam – During the Strike Two Summit participants will look for solutions in new technologies, like blockchain, AI and IoT, for the climate-neutral producing of food (Carbon Neutral Farming). Nitrogen and Carbon are hot issues. Recently Dutch farmers even went on strike to ask for attention to their position in society and the regulations in the field of nitrogen that have far-reaching consequences for their business operations.

Strike Two sees climate-neutral agriculture as something that should be an effort from the entire food sector. It’s unfair to make this a problem of the farmers. Therefore, 15+ partners, like the Dutch ministry of Agriculture, NAJK (the Dutch young farmers), Ahold Delhaize, Deloitte and The Fork, are organising the Strike Two Summit on Friday the 22nd of November.

On Friday the 22nd, participants of Strike Two will work together on a roadmap to integrate technological solutions within a three-year plan to solve specific problems. The diverse background of the participants ensures sector-wide support for the roadmaps.


Challenges

Besides Carbon Neutral farming, Strike Two also takes on two other challenges: Farm ID en New Business Models.


In the field of Farm ID, partner BlueNumber will enlighten participants on the problems that farmers face worldwide in focused on registration. In developing countries it is difficult for farmers to prove their identity and thus the origin of their product, while in countries like the Netherlands farmers often have 10 different IDs to meet customer needs. The Strike Two Summit is exploring how new technology can help with this.


New Business Models is hosted by the Boeren van Amstel, the Dutch young farmers (NAJK) and STEM. During Strike Two, De Boeren van Amstel is working on a use case for funding for a milk factory through blockchain technology. Can blockchain make society more involved in the farmer? Participants find out what is involved with the process of creating a blockchain solution.
