The Pacific Coast Association of the Swedenborgian Church Turns 100

October 19, 2019 LOS ANGELES -- The Pacific Coast Association (PCA) of the Swedenborgian Church turned 100 this year, and had its annual meeting in Silver City, NM today.

To commemorate its centennial, the New Church of the Southwest Desert is hosting several events open to the public at its new location OASIS Coffee & Tea House, which provides ecumenical and interfaith outreach of several churches and is a gathering place for creativity, conversation, and community-making in Silver City.

On Oct. 18, there was a lecture from 7:30 — 9pm by Trent Bohl on “Entheogens & Their Connection to the Divine.” This was followed by a dance party with DJ Light Machine at the same location at OASIS Coffee & Tea House in Silver City.

On Oct. 19, there will be a lecture from 7:30 — 9:00pm from local coffee roaster, sufi, and scholar, Jalilla Rogers, who will speak on “Sufism, the History of Coffee, Swedenborg, and Esoteric Islam.” This will be followed by a Universal Dance of Peace led by a Sufi dancer.

The Swedenborgian Church of North America is 232 years old, is the smallest denomination in the National Council of Churches, and has influenced major historical figures. PCA provides minister support and grants to its six US member churches west of Albuquerque. There are 11 other regional associations in North America.
