Camera-based Auto-ID systems for highest read rates and more efficiency

Wiesbaden, 25th July 2011 – At Post-Expo in Stuttgart from 27th to 29th September 2011, VITRONIC will be presenting high-capacity camera-based systems for the identification of packages.

VITRONIC’s Auto-ID systems recognize, analyze and evaluate all relevant information from barcodes, 2-D codes and characters (OCR) - also many different code types in one image (multi-code reading). Furthermore, important additional information such as the volume and the weight of the package can be acquired – data which is essential for automatic invoicing and revenue recovery as well as optimizing logistic processes such as loading.

In case barcodes and 2-D codes on items should be recorded and the goods be handled with both hands at the same time, the compact camera system VICAMsnap! is the right system. VICAMsnap! is installed above the workstation and reads codes even at high speeds, the operator has both hands free for handling the items. The reading field has a width of 30 cm, a depth of 30 cm and a height of 38 cm. The reading takes place continuously and fully automatically; manual triggering is no longer required.

Over the past years, VITRONIC has successfully implemented numerous systems for well-respected and worldwide operating logistic companies. The core piece of the Auto-ID system is the high-speed line-scan camera VICAMssi2 - a proprietary develop-ment of VITRONIC that is produced in it’s 7th generation form and more than 4,000 have been delivered. The systems are used by courier, express and parcel delivery companies as well companies from the field of warehousing and distribution for data acquisition along the entire process chain.
