From One Black Woman to Another: A Fresh Take on Fibroid Management

02-07-2011 12:50 PM CET | Health & Medicine

Press release from: Crossroads ObGyn and Wellness

Almost half of African-American women face a diagnosis of fibroid tumor development during their lifetime. Many times this diagnosis has lead to an immediate hysterectomy. However in the past several decades there has been a evolution in the management of these tumors and now there are a range of options. Some of these procedures are minimally invasive and can require only a small amount of time in the hospital. When a hysterectomy is still an necessary option there are also options that can minimize hospital stay and maximize your return to work.

Dr. Sims is a Board Certified ObGyn currently practicing in Southeast Houston and Pasadena. She currently runs her own private practice and her some of her interests include fibroids, menopausal management, and laparoscopic surgery.
