Lancashire stairlifts company launches emergency rental service

Colne-based Multicare Stairlifts is introducing a scheme for people in desperate need of mobility around the home.

The “emergency rental stairlift fitting service” means disabled and elderly people can have stairlifts in their home quickly, and for a low cost.

After it is installed, a rental stairlift will cost a small monthly fee.

Martin Baldwin, of Multicare, said: “The new scheme allows residents to stay in the environment they have grown used to.

“In order for them to retain some of their independence, it is essential to help to look at mobility options.

“There is no need to move house if elderly or disabled people able to move from one floor to another, consider renting a stairlift for them. Moving house can be very distressing for people who have become accustomed to their surroundings.

“Renting a stairlift is much cheaper than having to purchase one.”

The company, based on North Road, Colne, is renting out the stairlifts in association with a passenger lifts company.

Multicare’s rental service only includes straight stairlifts - because curved stairlifts have to be specially made to suit the specific staircase.

As well as selling new stairlifts, used stairlifts can be modified at Multicare’s in-house refurbishment facility - and are soon ready to be sent to the next customer.

New and used stair lifts are supplied to both local councils and individuals.

Multicare is an accredited NHS provider that provides equipment for people who have recently been discharged from hospital or who find it difficult to get around their home.

The company provides a huge range of stairlifts and mobility products - including the Minivator and Rise Recliners.

Working in partnership with Occupational Therapists, Social Services and other prescribers, Multicare chooses from a large selection of mobility equipment - from commodes and perching stools to shoe horns and grab rails.
