PrognoCIS EMR chosen for CO-REC’s list of approved Electronic Health Record (EHR) products

(San Jose, CA) - December 22, 2010 - Colorado Regional Extension Center (CO-REC) placed PrognoCIS v2.0 on its list of approved Electronic Health Record (EHR) products last week. After a three-month review period, CO-REC selected 14 EHR integration products that were not only ONC-ATCB certified but also met additional criteria.

Beginning in 2011, healthcare providers “meaningfully” using electronic health record software per the “meaningful use” standards set forth by the ONC can expect financial incentives from the ARRA HITECH Act. While two thirds of Colorado physicians have not yet begun using EHR software, this stimulus money has prompted many to begin the search. Since the software selection process can be overwhelming, not-for-profit organizations such as CO-REC are developing resources such as this list to help physicians.

CO-REC selected PrognoCIS based on five main components: pricing, corporate and financial strength, commitment to Colorado, Health Information Exchange (HIE) connectivity and HL7 messaging and Continuity of Care Document (CCD) exchange. In addition to meeting Stage 1 meaningful use criteria, PrognoCIS had to showcase advanced features that could meet potential meaningful use criteria in the future as well.
