Salient in Additives - a clear demonstration of commitment to the customer from Songwon - on show at K2010 in Hall 6, Stand C79

Ulsan, Korea – September 30, 2010 – The K2010 exhibition will provide an opportunity for Songwon to demonstrate its continued commitment to the Polymers industry through its key initiatives of providing customers security of supply, focusing on economy of scale and backward integration, developing and innovating its product portfolio, creating a global presence, delivering One-Pack Systems (OPS) and complying with current and future product regulations. To Songwon Salient in Additives means to establish role model performance in the supply of additives!

Songwon today is the second largest producer of antioxidants with a total capacity of 55.000 tons. Songwon can ensure security of supply and high quality with full backward integration and economy of scale. Songwon is positioned to be the partner of choice in the supply of essential additives. Isobutylene is a key raw material in the production of the main antioxidants and Songwon’s capacity has been expanded by more than 30% to reach 40.000 MT/Y. Moreover, Songwon will continue to invest as needed.

At the K2010 exhibition Songwon will be announcing an expansion of its antioxidants manufacturing capacity. This is evidence of Songwon’s understanding of the needs of the market and commitment to step up to meet those needs.

Today Songwon offers one of the most complete ranges of polymer stabilizers and has introduced 30 products to the marketplace since 2006; the latest addition is a unique UV synergistic blend which was launched in May 2010.

Another announcement Songwon will be making at K2010 concerns the establishment of a joint venture with a leading Chinese Thioester manufacturer which will give Songwon access to a wide product range of Thioesters with a total capacity of 6,000 tons fully back-integrated. The introduction of Songwon’s own range of Optical Brighteners is an additional example of Songwon’s continued investment in the development of its product porfolio.


Songwon’s R&D team and Application Group are dedicated to the continuous development of new polymer additives and at K2010 will demonstrate some of their latest technologies:
o Affordable High Performance Solution for Polyolefin Surface protection
o New balanced approach to PP Fibre protection
o New High Heat, Low Colour generating, Low Emission formulations
o New Liquid Process Stabilizers
o TNPP Replacement: the True Story

At K2010 Songwon will field a team of management and technical experts who will be ready to show how Songwon is the partner of choice. With regional headquarters and customer service centers in Ulsan, Shanghai, Tokyo, Mumbai, Bahrain, Frauenfeld and Houston, Songwon is committed to ensure close proximity to its customers around the world. Chemservice Asia offers regulatory affairs competencies for Asia that will enable customers to meet the fast developing chemical control legislation in the Asian region.
