Applying for common wealth scholarship to study in UK
If you are a prospective student from India, you will need to apply online for the scholarship through the Ministry of Human Resource Development website by 10th Jan 2019. Alternatively, you can also apply through the Electronic Application System of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission by December 19, 2018. A mere 52 nominations would be made of all the applications received of which, 13 would be ear marked for PhD students. You should have been accepted to a college or university in the United Kingdom to be eligible to apply. You will need to upload a copy of your admission offer.
Tips for applying for Commonwealth scholarship
The commonwealth scholarship can be very competitive, but if you take the right approach then you stand a good chance provided your academic record is outstanding. Following are a few tips for improving your chances for bagging the scholarship
1. Make sure you have a good resume
One of the very first things that you need to work on is your resume. You will need to have an excellent academic record, and highlight any extracurricular activities that you have taken part in. Also make sure to use your resume to talk about the positive aspects of your personality, your hobbies and how you can benefit from studying in UK.
2. Get strong referrals
You will need to some very good referrals that know you at a personal level and are willing to vouch for you in order to boost your application’s chances to shine out among hundreds of others.
3. Have a good essay ready
You will need to submit an essay as a part of your application. The essay will go a long way in adding to your chances of being nominated for the scholarship, so pay good attention to this part of your application. Also it is important to remember to keep your essay original and genuine. It should be built on your own experiences as you will be quizzed on it should you be selected for the interview.
With the right application essay and a strong resume you can definitely hope for getting a nomination for this prestigious scholarship.
