Press release from: Penn Care Inc.

Niles, Ohio, July 20, 2010… Penn Care, Inc. is reaching out to the emergency medical services community and informing them of an important upgrade within its leading edge EMS software solution. The leading Electronic Patient Care Reporting (EPCR) software from emsCharts, Inc. is now further enhanced to improve paperless documentation of patient records. These latest updates have pediatric-specific features to help facilitate better and faster critical care for pediatric and neonatal patients.
Working together with some of the top pediatric teams in the US that use emsCharts, the upgraded features not only enhance, but also simplify emergency medical response for childbirth and obstetrics procedures. Delivery, cord procedures, placental delivery, reposition mother, uterine massage, and fetal assessment, along with data points such as contraction frequency and duration are just some of the new features included.
Shawn Bryant, president, Penn Care Inc. says, “We provide the latest, innovative products and solutions to help emergency medical services providers to better perform their critical life saving roles. The increasing trend of going paperless with EMS records is a result of the sheer convenience, speed, efficiency and cost-saving offered by EPCR software. As resellers of the leading solution from emsCharts, Inc., we are very pleased to announce their latest software updates serving the pediatric and neonatal critical care community. No longer will our customers’ teams have to struggle with using software meant for adult patients’ records and trying to adjust it to the needs of newborns and infants.”
At the start of 2010, the Jackson County EMS Service became a user of the emsCharts software provided by Penn Care. With this significant technological upgrade, the County transitioned to a paperless reporting system, stepping up the efficiency and quality of their EMS service. Steve McClure, EMS Director of Jackson County says, “We are extremely happy with the software and more than that, the customer support provided by Penn Care. We have had fantastic support from their team in helping us get set up and conversant with using emsCharts. As for the software itself, the biggest benefit we find is consistency and convenience. We are in a rural area in Jackson County and we often don’t have Internet access. With emsCharts accessible on mobile phones, we get information and EPCR when we need it, where we need it. We don’t lose any time in paper documentation at all. The system helps us get feedback; we apply the data for training purposes and to establish peak times. It also helps in our public relations activities to inform and educate the general public. The use of emsCharts software has been very good for the County and we are grateful for the extraordinary customer service from Penn Care, Inc.”
