The Living Nativity Scene in Passignano, a travel back in time

The Living Nativity Scene in Passignano, a travel back in time

The "Presepe vivente", the living nativity scene is one of the biggest Christmas attractions in Umbria. It has been a "must go" for 18 years now, likewise for tourists and Umbrians. During Christmas time the inhabitants of Passignano sul Trasimeno are playing the Christmas story.
Every year they transform their town into a realisticly built copy of a small town of the Palestina during the Roman rule.
The stage to show the life at those times are the narrow streets and places of the old town centre. The "Presepe vivente" in Passignano is said to be the very best of its kind and attracts tourists from all over the world. Here under the light of the torches and the perfume of woodfires and exotic scents visitors can immerse themselves into the magic feeling that may have been felt at Bethlehem more than 2000 years ago.
Who wants to know more about the "Presepe vivente" can read a little Umbrian Christmas story here. http://www.rogaia.com/en/story_christmas.html
