asknet Wins IBM BestSeller Award 2012

Achievements in the academic enterprise and midmarket sector impress the jury

Karlsruhe, February 25, 2013 – asknet AG, the leading provider of eProcurement portals for education and research, has been awarded the IBM BestSeller Award 2012. The prize, which is awarded by IBM every year in seven different categories, recognizes outstanding contributions made by its business partners. asknet won the award in the category “Growth”.

“Winning the BestSeller Award 2012 is not only a wonderful affirmation of our achievements over the past year, but also provides us with extra motivation to carry out joint projects in the future,” says Michael Konrad, CEO of asknet AG. “We are proud to have contributed to our partner IBM’s success through our work.”

The award recognizes, in particular, innovations and solutions in the field of Information Management, an area that has been continually developed since mid-2010. asknet initially started as a Lotus partner in 1998, graduating to the status of IBM “Software Value Plus” partner in 2010. asknet is now an IBM “Independent Software Vendor” and Application-Specific Licensing (ASL) partner of IBM.

During the award speech, IBM pointed out that asknet AG made additional investments and undertook projects in the area of Business Analytics in 2012. The jury additionally noted: “As an ASL partner of IBM, asknet is able to offer their own SPSS Statistics solution, which was developed specifically for the research and education sector.”

asknet supplies 80% of all German universities with software products and offers students a wide range of software downloads for personal use through its leading Internet platform “Studyhouse.biz”. Since it was founded almost twenty years ago as a spin-off of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT, formerly the University of Karlsruhe), the company has taken a vested interest in supplying the academic sector with software solutions.
