Press release from: Appear Networks (SE)

Stockholm, April 2, 2007 - Appear, a leading provider of enterprise mobility solutions, has introduced three new products that enhance and improve currently deployed fire control, video surveillance and asset tracking systems. The new solutions -FireSafetyIQ, VideoSecurityIQ and AssetTrackingIQ - are designed to increase operational efficiencies and add new business capabilities to existing, enterprise-grade systems.

The Appear software platforms utilize a revolutionary technology based on context - or the situational information of both people and items - to dramatically enhance the productivity of onsite mobile workers. Real-time, continually updated situational information is processed and distributed over wireless networks to mobile workers or security staff equipped with handheld devices. Appear´s solutions integrate seamlessly with existing systems and procedures, adding more advanced functionality. Employees gain a more comprehensive understanding of rapidly changing situations, ultimately raising productivity, improving overall response times and better securing public safety.

FireSafetyIQ instantly collects, processes and wirelessly transmits contextual information generated by fire alerts to the handheld devices carried by emergency responders. Accessing information contained in fire panels manufactured by GE, FireSafetyIQ filters, transmits and updates panel information cross-checked against responder locations and skills. In addition, any required location maps, checklists, temperatures or other relevant procedural details are also sent to the closest, best-equipped staff.

VideoSecurityIQ coordinates with and enhances existing video surveillance systems by transmitting alert information - including video and voice - over wireless networks directly to the handheld computers carried by security staff. Advanced video surveillance systems rely on real-time analytics to identify suspicious or anomalous behavior. This important intelligence comes at the cost of generating massive amounts of information that can be difficult to process. VideoSecurityIQ uses context-aware technology to rapidly filter through the intelligence to determine those events needing action and subsequently transmit additional video, voice or other necessary content concerning the alert to the closest, best-placed security guard.

AssetTrackingIQ works over wireless networks to ensure enterprise asset visibility. Unlike other single-use proprietary tracking systems, Appear AssetTrackingIQ requires no additional network hardware or wireless infrastructure overlay. Working in collaboration with PanGo active RFID tags the AssetTrackingIQ web-based software provides locationing intelligence that allows organizations to track the movement of key assets and people across their facility.

"Appear´s enterprise mobility solutions demonstrate the enormous value context-aware technology can bring to many different industries," commented Yad Jaura, Vice President of Global Marketing at Appear. "In an environment where companies are trying to squeeze the highest-value possible out of existing technology investments, Appear´s innovative solutions deliver quantifiable results that help ensure public safety and security."
