THOMAS A. SADAKA SPEAKS AT THE INDIANA SPRING JUDICIAL COLLEGE ON TECHNOLOGY IN THE COURTS

ORLANDO, FL – Attorney Thomas A. Sadaka, Of Counsel to the law firm of Seiden Alder Matthewman & Bloch, spoke at the Indian Judicial Center’s Spring Judicial College, the Impact of Technology on the Courts Including 4th Amendment Issues, at the Hilton Indianapolis North, in Indianapolis on April 15th, 2008. The presentation was attended by approximately 90 Indiana Judges. Sadaka spoke on how new technologies impact the judicial system with focus on Fourth Amendment, electronic intercept, eDiscovery, computer forensics, and issues related to electronically stored information. During this course Sadaka drew on more than 25 years of experience in the technology field, twelve years of prosecution, the last seven years of which were spent as the Special Counsel to the Florida Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution, where he supervised the investigation and prosecution of all identity theft and technology related crimes

The Judicial Center is the staff agency of the Judicial Conference of Indiana and was created by statute. The legislature has charged the Judicial Conference with promoting an exchange of experience and suggestions regarding the operation of Indiana’s judicial system; promoting continuing education of judges, probation officers, and other court personnel; promoting a better understanding of the judiciary; assisting local courts in developing and improving probation services; setting standards for probation officers; administering the interstate compacts regarding transfer of probationers into and out of Indiana; administering the Court Alcohol and Drug Services Programs; and providing oversight of Indiana’s Drug Courts. The Judicial Center serves the Judicial Conference by carrying out these functions on behalf of the Conference. In addition, the Judicial Center carries out other functions as may be assigned by the Judicial Conference Board of Directors, the Chief Justice, the Supreme Court, or as may be devised by its Executive Director. Sadaka’s has extensive and varied experience in the field of technology law and electronic discovery. Sadaka was a pioneering member of the National Cybercrime Training Partnership, and is a frequent lecturer to both public and private sector organizations nationwide on information security, identity theft, eDiscovery, document retention policies and computer crime related matters. Sadaka serves on various technical working groups with the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the National Center for Forensic Science and is frequently retained as an expert in electronic intercept related cases.

Sadaka has taught extensively for the National Association of Attorneys General, the National Center for Justice and the Rule of Law, the National Conference of State Legislatures, the National Governors Association, the National White Collar Crime Center, the National Center for Forensic Science, the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association, the Florida Bar Association, the American Bar Association and many other groups. He currently serves as an adjunct professor at The University of Central Florida, teaching in the Masters Certification Program in Computer Forensics. He also serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Digital Evidence and the advisory board of the National Center for Justice and the Rule of Law.

Legislative Report, Creating a Fraud Resistant Driver License and Identification Card; US Secret Service High Tech Crimes Working Group; Former member of the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association, Education Committee; Legal Advisor to the Florida Association of Computer Crimes Investigators; Chair of the Florida Bar Computer Law Committee; International Journal of Digital Evidence, Editorial Board; National Center for Justice and the Rule of Law, Board of Advisors.
