(openPR) - Sun expands carrier grade operating system and world-class embedded development tools on Netra CP3020
The Wind River Platform for Networking Equipment, Linux Edition (PNE-LE), will be optimized to support the Netra CP3020, Sun Microsystems’ AMD Opteron processor-based blade server. The Sun Netra CP3020 is built on the ATCA specification to ensure that the platform is optimized for system scalability and improved thermal and power management. The AMD Opteron processor with Direct Connect Architecture gives telecommunications customers native 64-bit and multi-core computing. Based on a CGL distribution, Wind River`s PNE-LE integrates with many of the industry's most popular telecommunications boards. It includes a standards-based IPC mechanism that connects the Linux and VxWorks editions of the platform. The combination of a Wind River run-time platform on a Sun Netra-based system offers greater flexibility for network equipment providers and service providers and delivers higher service availability. The support for the Sun Netra ATCA blade server will be available in July 2006 in the Wind River PNE-LE.
