Press release from: EGGER (UK) Limited

Egger have developed two new striking and inspired decors to capture the imagination of furniture designers everywhere.

Autumn Plum (H3129) is a reproduction of an exotic plum wood with a fantastic variety of colours ranging from dark brown to golden with very subtle hints of aubergine. To complement the Autumn Plum and other woodgrain colours, such as walnut or dark oak, Egger have also introduced a new uni colour called Aubergine (U330).

New woodgrain designs are beginning to emerge with much stronger characters, a step on from straighter woodgrain effects which are now firmly established. Increasingly, they reflect their original and more natural forms, due in part to the increased print quality of the reproductions. The Autumn Plum is a design which characterizes this emerging trend with a heavy emphasis on the beauty of its natural core. The interplay of colours also allows designers the freedom to use a variety of combination colours to create a strong and bold appearance in their furniture. The picture shows the Autumn Plum combined with Aubergine (U330) and Premium White (W1000) for a striking yet balanced look. With such a strong character, the Plum looks especially effective when used with its grain running horizontally, such as on wide drawer fronts.

With uni colours, Egger argue that it is important to consider two main themes. Firstly the emphasis over the last few years has very much been on earthy-toned colours, such as beige, cappuccino or brown. This, they say, will continue with the development of uni colours that give further options within these colour areas. However this year, Egger see a second trend also emerging where colours and their various combinations are becoming much more adventurous. Though the colours will remain fairly muted to ensure a well-balanced look, they are sufficiently bold to make a real design statement.

In addition to Aubergine (U330) Egger say that they have a few more developments up their sleeve in this direction, which will be launched later this year.

Both decors are available now in Eurodekor MFC, MDF and pre-glued melamine edging. Samples can be ordered via Egger’s network of UK distributors or by clicking www.egger.co.uk/samples
