(openPR) - BalanceNG, the innovative load balancing software now supports High Availability (HA) with stateful failover. In practice this means that e.g. a TCP connection is not being dropped if a backup node running BalanceNG takes over operation from the master BalanceNG node.
Stateful failover is managed by a continuous session table state replication and synchronization between the master and the backup node utilizing a custom and efficient extension of VRRP (the Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol).
Configuration of stateful is very easy: It needs nothing more than adding "set sessionsync 1" and "set vrrppreempt 0" to the configuration file (on both master and backup) and to set the master VRRP priority to something lower than 255 (but higher than the backup as usual).
BalanceNG runs on Linux and Solaris and is availabe for free trial at: www.BalanceNG.net
BalanceNG is a modern software IP load balancing solution. It is small, fast, and easy to use and setup. It offers session persistence, different distribution methods (Round Robin, Random, Hash, and Least Resource) and a customizable UDP health check agent in source code.
It supports VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) with optional VRRP tracking to set up high availability configurations on multiple nodes.
BalanceNG integrates pcap packet dumping for debugging purposes and allows the implementation of a "transparent forensic logging bridge". It supports "all service load balancing" based on client IP address which allows almost any protocol to be supported.
BalanceNG also supports single legged operations, either on IP-Level or in a DSR (Direct Server Return / "nPath") configuration.
BalanceNG is a product of Inlab Software GmbH Gruenwald, Germany ( www.inlab.de ). Inlab Software GmbH, founded in 1991 is a Software Development and Consulting Company located in Gruenwald near Munich, Germany.
