Press release from: TenThousandBands.com

Ilmenau, Germany / 11-28-2005 A 26 year old german student from the University of Ilmenau pushes the principle of pixel ads to the next frontier. On his virtual advertisement panel Lars Fischer sells midget-faces for graphical links on the internet. The innovation is in the content control: now with usefulness for visitors of the site, only music-related pages are accepted here.

It has not been long since a US student made a small fortune with a similar project. On his homepage www.milliondollarhomepage.com Alex Tew sells pixel blocks for $100 USD each. Interested parties can purchase blocks, and place a company logo or any other graphic and link to their own homepage. There is just one condition: no obscene/offensive/adult content!
The problem: visitors of the page look at an ocean of random pixel graphics without any structure or way to refine the search of the pages they are really looking for. The only way to distinguish one site from another is a minimalist picture and a short hover text with information on this. With such a variety of subjects, pages get lost in the mix and users are not able to find pages they are interested in.

On www.tenthousandbands.com Lars Fischer kicks the concept to the next level now and gives a sense of organization to the viewers and a target audience for the buyers of the 10,000 pixel spaces. Because he accepts pages with music related content exclusively, so there is little doubt as to where the viewer will go when he clicks. Eligible content includes band homepages, fan pages, but also pages of record labels, record shops, concerts, venues or festivals. In such a way as to enable the disposed user of the internet in search of new music a perfect starting point for discovering.

Furthermore all ads can be filtered by genre i.e. Rock, Pop, Urban, Jazz, Classic or Electro. And the best part is the price: a space of 10x10 pixels here only costs $10 USD. That is only 10 percent of the price of the other site making it affordable to put a graphical link on this page for every ambitious band and get seen and found by possibly hundred thousands of music lovers.

This homepage and all ads will be online at least for the next three years and will be accessible to everyone. Now it remains to be seen how the internet community responds to this innovative method of advertising and content management. With such a great chance for success the risks for buyers are at the bottom line. The first spaces are already sold and early buyers still will get an additional bonus.
