vistream enables MVNO models including fixed mobile convergence
Press release from: vistream GmbH
(openPR) - Innovative technology and services enable new products based on GSM/UMTS and broadband Internet
DORTMUND - 13 March 2006 - vistream, the fifth German mobile operator, will combine the advantages of mobile networks and broadband Internet to enable fixed mobile convergence. Innovative handsets connect via the vistream mobile network while on the move and via the users WiFi hotspot at home, enabling calls, SMS, MMS and data services. The customer can always be reached by dialing his vistream 01570 number or his existing number using Mobile Number Portability. At home, the new technology enables attractive tariffs and new innovative data services such as interaction with television or radio programs. vistream offers a first insight of this service during several events in the next weeks.
Being the first German Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE), vistream partners with well known brands from different industries to market its services to end customers. Mobile products are bundled with existing services or utilized as a tool for customer relationship management. The MVNE leverages its own infrastructure for GSM, 3G and convergent products. A contract with an established network provider ensures radio access without owning base stations and a license.
Within the second quarter of 2006, vistream will launch several new offerings together with different partners. Fixed network carriers and Internet service providers will utilize the vistream mobile products to create innovative bundles combining DSL, mobile and fixed net access – with only one invoice.
Partners from the media industry will use the new opportunities to mobilize their brands and products. The handset will offer access to exclusive content and applications, establishing a completely new community for TV, Radio and Print formats.
The consumer goods industry has identified vistream as an ideal partner to enable new customer retention programs. It is expected that their customers will be rewarded with interesting tariffs including free minutes, free SMS or MMS packages for brand loyalty. In addition, vistream will support its partners with proven mobile marketing solutions based on customer and usage data.
