Using eBay Auctions to Help Challenged Kids
Press release from: Empirical Enterprise
(openPR) - Personal Ponies Ltd., an International non-Profit organization, dedicated to raising and providing UK Shetland Ponies to children with disabilities, is using a new twist on eBay Auctions to generate funding. What does this organization have to auction? The right to name a new baby pony, of course!
"The high-bidder will have the right to choose the name of a newborn foal.", stated Annie Norvelle, California State Director and National Media Director for Personal Ponies, Ltd. She added, "What people need to understand is that our ponies live up to thirty years, and during that time they spend a great deal of time with the public. This is a great way for someone to give a lasting remembrance to a name they cherish."
Personal Ponies, Ltd., is unique in that it has no paid members. In fact, aside from occasional donations, members shoulder the cost of raising and maintaining the ponies. "In San Jose, where our ranch is located, most children who benefit from the relationship with the ponies cannot take the pony to live at their house.", said Norvelle, "We maintain the ponies on our ranch and the children have open visitation rights." The costs they incur for maintaining the ponies include feed, veterinarian visits and transport costs.
Norvelle has been a purchaser on eBay for years, and while gaining recent popularity on some of the more "fun and wacky" auction sites realized that she could reach many people who would pay for the opportunity to have a name of their choice attached to one of these darling ponies, while at the same time supporting the program with their bid.
