(openPR) - Singapore, 30 September 2008 – Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts is pleased to announce the following new appointments in Asia Pacific: Mr Julian van den Bogaerde, as General Manager of Swissôtel Grand, Shanghai with effect from 1 October 2008, Mr Christian Schaufelbuehl, as General Manager of Swissôtel Nankai Osaka as of 30 September 2008, and Mr Rainer Tenius, General Manager, Swissôtel Merchant Court, Singapore from 1 October 2008.

Julian began his career with Raffles Hotels & Resorts in 1999 as Vice President Food & Beverage. In 2003, he joined Swissôtel Hotels and Resorts as a member of the pre-opening team that successfully opened Swissôtel Nai Lert Park, Bangkok. Subsequently, he assumed the position of General Manager at Swissôtel Amsterdam. Prior to his appointment in Shanghai, Julian was based in the head office of Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts in Zurich as General Manager supporting various properties throughout the world.

Since September 2005, Christian has been General Manager of Swissôtel Merchant Court, Singapore where he successfully oversaw an extensive transformation of the property that secured the hotel a prestigious World Travel Award as Singapore’s leading business hotel, 2008. He joined Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts in 1996 in Swissôtel Zurich as Executive Assistant Manager Rooms and subsequently, Sales & Marketing. Thereafter, he assumed the position of Director of Operations at Swissôtel Sydney before his move to Singapore.
Mr Rainer Tenius, General Manager, Swissôtel Merchant Court (www.swissotel.com/merchantcourt)
For the past year, Mr Tenius has held the position of General Manager at Swissôtel Kunshan, China where oversaw the conversion of the former Traders Hotel to a Swissôtel property and successfully launched the 387-room hotel as the foremost hotel property in Kunshan in July 2007.
Mr Tenius began his career at Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts 18 years ago in 1990 as Executive Assistant Manager with Swissôtel Dusseldorf, Neuss, Germany. Within five years, he was promoted to General Manager, managing Swissôtel Cairo El Salam Hotel in Egypt and Swissôtel Zurich in Switzerland. In 2003, he also led the pre-opening team at Swissôtel The Celik Palas, Turkey as General Manager. From 2004 to 2007, he was helming Swissôtel Dusseldorf, Neuss, Germany as General Manager before venturing to China.
