09-08-2008 09:23 PM CET | Energy & Environment

Press release from: The Switch

On 1 September 2008, The Switch opened its new office in Hamburg, Germany. This move positions The Switch closer to its growing base of wind turbine manufacturing customers in Germany and other leading wind power generation countries.

The Switch, a Finnish-based independent supplier of wind power generation drive train technology for OEMs, announced the opening of an office in Hamburg, Germany, as part of its move to be closer to customers. Mr. Jürgen Millhoff has been appointed as Sales Representative to head this office, with effect from 2 September.

According to Mr. Jukka-Pekka Mäkinen, President and CEO of The Switch, this allows the company to take a major step forward in its commitment to customer orientation. "Our optimized packages of permanent magnet (PM) generators and full-power converters create the heart of every wind turbine," he says.

"Today, we are the technology leader in full-power converters as well as the market leader in optimized full-power converter and PM generator packages, a winning technology that is growing faster than other technologies in wind power generation. It is essential that we collaborate as closely as possible with our wind turbine manufacturing customers locally. Our new German office, led by Mr. Millhoff, will give us this closer presence."

Jürgen Millhoff came to The Switch with more than 15 years of experience in the wind power industry in Germany. "I am very pleased for the opportunity to bring my knowledge from the field to The Switch customers in Germany as well as other neighboring regions," he emphasizes.

The Switch will be participating at the HUSUM exhibition from 9-13 September, and we invite you to come and meet The Switch Team at our stand.

Along with Germany and other Western European countries, The Switch is active in providing its technology to China, the Americas and other Asian countries. The company's strategy from the start has been to bring leading technology, including product design and production, to match Europe's sophisticated demands for alternative energy generation solutions.

The Switch provides unique power conversion systems - power converters, electrical machines and other electrical equipment needed for distributed power generation and industrial processes. Customers use the innovative products and systems of The Switch as part of their own machines or systems in wind turbines and other renewable energy applications or energy conserving applications. The Switch solutions support the battle against climate change and help to preserve energy resources.
