El Paso, Texas - Four experienced immigration law attorneys have joined the El Paso office of Brown McCarroll, L.L.P., including the current president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association

Kathleen Campbell Walker, Edward Rios, Lisa Rios and Micaela Guthrie offer more than 50 years of collective experience in immigration and customs law, representing multinational corporations and manufacturers as well as health care and academic institutions, investors, and individuals. The attorneys also assist sports and entertainment figures regarding immigration matters. The attorneys and support staff members come to the firm from Kemp Smith LLP in El Paso.

"Successfully navigating the complex issues of global transfers of personnel and goods as well as cross-border business transactions is a great concern for a growing number of our clients in our current marketplace, and we are very pleased to add this depth of experience and recognized skills," said Bob Werner, Brown McCarroll's managing partner.

With a national reputation for her immigration expertise, Ms. Walker is board certified in immigration and nationality law and serves as national president of the AILA, an affiliated organization of the American Bar Association with more than 11,000 lawyers. Her practice focuses on business immigration law, consular processing, worksite compliance and employer sanctions, as well as admission, citizenship and naturalization issues. Ms. Walker has testified numerous times before state and federal governmental bodies regarding border security, immigration reform and related issues and is a frequent expert resource on immigration matters for national news media. In 2007, she was named one of five top lawyers for the State of Texas in immigration law in the “Go-To” Guide published by Texas Lawyer. In addition, in 2007 she was named as one of the Top 50 women lawyers in the state in the Super Lawyers® publication in Texas Monthly..

Edward Rios practices exclusively in the area of immigration. He currently serves as the El Paso Liaison to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, as well as on the AILA National Admissions and Border Enforcement Committee. He is a frequent speaker on immigration law for business and professional conferences, and is a contributing editor and author for the AILA and other national publications on employer work site compliance and immigration strategies for health care professionals. Mr. Rios earned his law degree from the Boston University School of Law and an undergraduate degree from Harvard University.

Lisa Rios focuses her practice on immigration matters for domestic and international businesses as well as individuals. She is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law and received her undergraduate degree from Boston University.

Micaela Guthrie has experience in a wide range of business and family immigration law matters including removal and asylum matters, backed by her tenure as managing attorney for the Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center in El Paso. She is a graduate of the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Puget Sound.
