Imperato Sends Condolences to Al Salam Boccaccio, Egypt, and Mubarak

London - February 4, 2006 - After learning of the sinking of the Al-Salam Boccaccio 98 ferry in the Red Sea, 2008 United States Presidential Candidate Daniel Imperato expressed his condolences on behalf of the United States and the world for this tragedy.

"First of all, my heart goes out to the people of Egypt and the affected families of this tremendous tragedy. I want the families, and the people of Egypt to know that I support you, and the world supports you in your time of need," stated Imperato.

The El Salam Maritime Transport Co., the biggest ferry operator in the Red Sea, will conduct a five day search and rescue operation for the 900 passengers missing since yesterday from its sunken vessel, a company official said.

Rescuers have recovered 349 of the 1,414 passengers on-board the Al Salam Boccaccio 98 ferry, which sank during a seven-hour voyage from Saudi Arabia's port of Duba to Egypt, Mandouh Orabi, fleet manager of the vessel's owners El Salam, said in a phone interview today.

Imperato felt that Egypt can and will stand tall during this testing time.

"This message is for President Hosni Mubarak and the people of Egypt. During this time of turmoil, you must stand tall and show the world the strength of your people, because it is during these times that you can further show that you are a light to the world."
