Structural Focus President David Cocke Joins the Los Angeles Conservancy Board of Directors

Los Angeles-area, CA, August 3, 2016 -- David Cocke has been elected as a member of the Los Angeles Conservancy’s Board of Directors. The Los Angeles Conservancy is a nonprofit membership organization that works through education and advocacy to recognize, preserve, and revitalize the historic architectural and cultural resources of Los Angeles County. David has been an active member since joining the Conservancy in the mid-1990s. He helped organize a sidewalk survey of the Los Angeles Historic Core buildings and the resulting database, and he has been providing technical support on numerous advocacy issues.

David is a registered structural engineer in California, Arizona, Nevada and several other states, with expertise including new structural design, seismic evaluation, historic preservation, and retrofit design. During his career, he has served in many leadership roles and on numerous Boards of Directors of professional engineering organizations as well as preservation organizations. David Cocke is very active in the preservation of historic buildings and has made numerous presentations regarding the reuse of existing buildings as supporting sustainability principles.

Since he founded Structural Focus in 2001, the structural engineering firm has designed several million square feet of new structures and rehabilitated hundreds of existing buildings, including numerous historic projects, dozens of which are on the National Register of Historic Places. Structural Focus has been involved in the preservation and restoration of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple, Rancho Los Alamitos, Scripps College Humanities Building, the Anaheim Citrus Packing House, and the Beverly Hills Main Post Office as part of the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.
