The Mark Montclair Announces Freedom School Registration and Volunteer Opportunities

Montclair, NJ-St. Mark's United Methodist Church (The Mark Montclair) proudly announces the opening of scholar registration for the esteemed Freedom School @ The Mark, which will run from July 1 to August 9, 2024. Embracing the values of the Children's Defense Fund's Freedom Schools, The Mark commits to providing an educational haven that nurtures growth and empowers children in our community.

The program, which is free to families, offers a summer of learning, fun, and growth. It targets improving literacy skills and fosters a sense of social activism. Freedom School @ The Mark invites families to enroll their children (completing grades K-5) in this transformative program, which aims to close achievement gaps and promote social justice.

In alignment with the spirit of community and collaboration, The Mark also extends a call for volunteers. Community members passionate about education and service can contribute in roles such as classroom readers, kitchen aides, activity leaders, STEAM skill mentors, and field trip chaperones.

In addition to our ongoing programs, The Mark Church is proud to host the Pop-Up Food Market on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month.
