Heart Center Brings Cutting Edge Treatment to The Texas Clinic at Prestonwood

PLANO, TEXAS – December 19, 2007 – Heart First, one of North Texas’ most advanced cardiac care practices, has opened its doors in The Texas Clinic at Prestonwood (TTCAP) at Plano Parkway and Marsh Lane in Plano. Heart First is a full service cardiology practice which uses modern screening technology and provides state of the art care for all types of diseases of the heart and circulatory system.

Heart First’s staff of Board-certified cardiologists team with an on-staff Interventional Cardiologist, Electrophysiologist, Pulmonologist, as well as cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons to give patients what amounts to a one-stop service for heart health. With this group of wide-ranging specialists, and an experienced staff of specially trained Nurse Practitioners, Heart First provides a full-range of cardiac services, including cardiovascular consultation, lipid management, nuclear cardiology, pacemaker evaluation, echocardiography, stress echocardiography, electrocardiography (EKG/ECG), arterial and vascular ultrasound, cardiac angiography, stress testing, angioplasty and stenting, Holter monitoring and pacemaker insertion. Heart First at TTCAP also features the new Siemens SOMATOM Definition 128-slice dual source CT scanner, the first of its kind in North Texas, which can produce Cardiac CTA (Computed Tomography Angiography) scans, with unmatched clarity and detail.

Prevention of heart disease is a priority for the practice. According to Dr. James Rellas, M.D., one of the founders of Heart First, “Heart disease kills more Americans each year than every type of cancer combined. We target the prevention of heart disease and accomplish this through in-depth examination, diagnostic testing and education about living a healthy lifestyle.” Dr. Rellas continued, saying, “Today, we are extremely excited about the potential for diagnosis and prevention presented by our 128-slice dual source CT. The high speed coronary CTA, or ‘HeartogramÔ’, that can be obtained with this technology is literally obtained in the space of one heartbeat without the need for beta blocking medication or extraordinary preparation. These scans offer a fantastic opportunity for early detection and treatment of heart disease and represent the future of Cardiology. Having this technology places Heart First on the cutting edge of heart disease prevention. We hope that both men and women will visit Heart First and consider a HeartogramÔ as a baseline for treatment of future medical needs.”

Heart First at The Texas Clinic at Prestonwood presents a warm, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere to its patients. Covering 12,000 square feet, the facility has been carefully planned to allow multiple physicians to work simultaneously, perform patient testing quickly and efficiently and provide a high level of service. Open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Heart First accepts most private insurance plans and is located in The Texas Clinic at Prestonwood at the corner of Plano Parkway and Marsh in Plano, TX (6957 W. Plano Parkway, Suite 1000). For further information, call 972-939-8294 or visit the Heart First website at www.heartfirst.md
